Series 8 VIII Step Up Ring Adapter for 55mm Lens Filter Thread
Though I believe the title above says it all, I will explain a little more.
As you probably know, most common lenses allow filters and accessories to be screwed into them. These filters are referenced by their diameter sizes, typically in millimeters.
There are adapting rings, commonly called step-up or step-down rings that allow you to place a different sized filter on the lens.
This adapter ring is somewhat of a special type having a "Series" number designation.
So this adapter ring screws into a lens having a filter diameter of 55mm and allows a larger size, which is known as "Series VIII" (8)
Going into Series Filter sizes is beyond the scope of this explanation, but essentially Series VIII filters are approximately 66.7mm.
So if you have a lens hood designated as Series VIII, you may now screw that hood into this adapter to use on your 55mm Filter threaded lens.
One more thing about Series Filter Adapter rings, such as this one. They allow special filters that have no threads to be placed inside. Then a special ring with male threads, screws in to hold the filter in place. Also, this retaining ring still will allow further Series VIII male threaded accessories to be screwed into it.
Note: No retaining ring is included in this listing.
The adapter ring is in excellent shape. The images did not show the rest of the writing which reads in full "King Adapter Ring Series VIII 55 Φ Japan"
